Linna and Nene are drifting in space. They know that they will not survive re-entry, and Linna doesn’t want it to end that way, pushing Nene to think of a solution. Nene then releases the constraints on her hardsuit and has it transform into an airfoil. Linna follows suit, and together they begin to re-enter the atmosphere.
Priss is left to stop Galatea alone when her consciousness is pulled to Sylia’s childhood home memories. Galatea wishes to make Priss into a human component of herself, and as she and Priss battle, Priss’ hardsuit begins to go rogue. As she struggles, Priss realizes that Linna and Nene survived the blast, giving her the will to break free.
Galatea then reshapes the Umbrella and physically attacks Priss. Priss’ suit is out of power, and she knows that her oxygen is almost gone as well. She doesn’t want to die helplessly. The moto-slave then comes to life and comes to Priss’s aid. Together they try one last-ditch effort to stop Galatea.
Galatea still cannot understand why Priss wants to stay human. She moves to entrap Priss while accelerating her evolution.
Priss uses the matter coming at her to make herself larger, and together she and the moto-slave form a spear to pierce Galatea’s core. Galatea has, at last, understood the meaning of her existence, and to thank Priss for opening her eyes, ensures her a safe return to Earth.
As particles from the explosion rain down on the planet, Linna and Nene awaken on a desert island, and Macky is no longer catatonic.
Priss is alone in an expanse of desert, and she is singing her favorite song to the rising sun. Her battered hardsuit lays behind her, crumpled wings fluttering in the wind.
