Episode #01: “Tinsel City”
A Genom construction crew demolishes an old building, while elsewhere sirens sound and police helicopters patrol the city. It is just another day in Tokyo City.
Priss is readying for a concert performance — dressing, putting on her makeup and wig. The crowd is excited, and she begins to sing. Meanwhile, the ADP is called out for a boomer incident. Nene is at the call center working.
Leon is at the concert but is called out to the incident as well, speeding off on his motorcycle. The AD Police have already deployed and begin to engage the boomer. Right away there are casualties among the ADP ranks.
Linna shows up at the concert to fetch Priss. Sylia is waiting for them in the car.
Leon arrives just as the boomer flees the scene. Daley wants to call in the Army, Leon thinks they can handle the boomer.
The Knight Sabers suit up and launch, meeting the boomer at the fault line and engage it there. Leon, who had been tailing the boomer, watches from safety as the Knight Sabers easily dispatch the boomer. The rest of the ADP unit arrives just in time to clean up the Knight Sabers.
After the incident, Leon is going for a burger just as Priss is coming out of the restaurant. Leon is all but speechless when he recognizes who she is. He rambles on before finally asking her out. Priss is biting and sarcastic in response, making it clear that she is not a fan of the ADP.
There is a USSD intelligence briefing going on regarding the Knight Sabers. They are curious about the powered armor they use and want to know more. They decide to hire them so that they can discover more.
Quincy is conducting a phone meeting with a politician, making an agreement for Quincy’s vote. After he’s finished, Mason assures Quincy that what he had requested is going as planned.
Sylia is swimming in her pool, thinking about the evening. She is remembering back to her childhood and of the last she had spoken with her father. He had been in his lab working but there was an ‘accident,’ and Dr. Stingray was killed. Afterward, Sylia was in receipt of a data unit concerning her father’s research, presumably having been sent to her in case of his death.
The next morning, Sylia’s alarm goes off, and she starts her morning routine — coffee and a newspaper. Macky then brings the job offer to her attention. However, his pervert behavior gets him into trouble.
Later, Linna and Nene arrive at the lingerie shop to confirm the job offer. After confirmation, they all meet up to discuss the details and what their next step should be. Among their concerns, is the implications involved in working for the USSD. They all come to an agreement to meet with the prospective client to see what they want.
Sylia and Nene ride to the base wearing their hardsuits, scaring the guard at the gate in the process. Once shown into the Commander’s office, they are given the details of the job: a little girl was abducted by boomers and is connected to a computer technician believed to have infiltrated the USSD to conduct industrial espionage. During the meeting, Nene discovers that the video cameras are more than what they appear, and Sylia shoots them off the walls.
They then agree to take the job and leave. As they are walking away from the base, they believe they are still being watched. Nene leaves them a message in the pavement to distract them before the two women duck under an overpass to meet up with Macky and change into their civilian clothes.
The Knight Sabers are then holding a pre-mission briefing regarding the missing people of the USSD job and the rogue boomers. Sylia then established the ground rules before sending them out to search for clues and leads.
While Priss is out looking, she draws the attention of the boomer kidnappers and is then captured for questioning. She regains consciousness while they are driving to their destination and causes them to have an accident. She then commandeers a motorcycle to flee from the two combat boomers. On the way, she passes Leon, who engages in a high-speed pursuit of both her and the boomers.
The others wait anxiously for Priss to check in as that she’s late to do so. They do wonder if she hadn’t gone off on her own without telling them. But then Leon call into the station about a motorbike being chased by combat boomers. Suspecting that it may be Priss, they decide to go after them.
At Aqua City, Leon sets up on the bridge, waiting for backup. Priss is running through the empty development, hiding from the boomers while searching for the missing girl, Cynthea. Priss finally finds her, but something isn’t right about her. Just as she is about to get Cynthea out of there, one the boomers find her.
The Knight Sabers are just about suited up to head in but aren’t yet there. Priss tries to defend herself, pulling out and assembling a high caliber pistol. However, it has little to no effect on the boomers.
Frederick, the missing computer technician, then appears. Priss realizes that he was in on the ruse, and Frederick threatens her in an attempt to get information out of her. The other Knight Sabers arrive just in time to keep Priss from having her face busted and engage the boomers.
Frederick then reveals himself to be an advanced boomer, and the girls work to cover Priss as she tries to get Cynthea to safety. On her way out of the city, she runs into Leon, who helps her to buy some added time. Just as they are almost out of the city, Priss and Cynthea are separated by Frederick merging with the city. Unable to get to her, Priss heads out to the mobile pit for her hardsuit, once there suiting up against Macky’s wishes.
The situation is quickly becoming dire. The boomer is absorbing Aqua City into itself, forcing Priss and motoslave to go inside it and destroy the cortex. Cynthea (who is a boomer as well), is caught up in its death-throws as a Genom helicopter circle overhead. The satellite particle weapon fires, destroying Cynthea and what remains of the boomer Frederick. Aqua City then begins to sink and the Knight Sabers escape across the bay.
They all then go their separate ways. Priss stays behind, watching the city. She is then relieved to see Leon and that he is alright. When he reaches her, she thanks him for doing something useful. As she rides away, he wonders if she may be a Knight Saber, but then dismisses the thought.
