Description
With her chin-length side-tails, Linna is seen as a “country bumpkin” by many of her acquaintances. She wears comfortable, everyday type clothes, like T-shirts and tennis shoes when not in her green office uniform and high-heels.
Personality
Linna has a sharp mind, a good eye for detail, and is prone to occasional acts of bull-headed determination. She is also an open person with a good heart. Even though others tend to try to walk all over her, she doesn’t let it get her down. She maintains her positive, friendly, and outgoing personality and dreams of helping others. It was her honesty that helps her bond with Nene, and eventually Priss. Unfortunately, Linna’s sensitivity does tend to make her frustrated with the city and its people, even causing her to shed the occasional tear. She’s far from weak, however, and will do whatever it takes to do what she must for her friends and the city. She is also non-judgmental, sticking with Sylia and Priss even after learning the truth of the Great Quake, the hardsuits, and Sylia’s past. She sticks to her principles with dogged perseverance. She is naive and idealistic with ‘save the world’ goals.
History
Linna was born and raised in the rural area of Kumamoto, Kyushu, Japan. She idolized the Knight Sabers and wanted to join their ranks. After a year or so of earnest research, she then moved to Tokyo and took employment at Hugh-Geit Enterprise, a subsidiary of the Genom Corporation. She works as an Office Lady in their Second Sales Division, spending most of her day sitting in front of a computer screen, most likely pouring over invoices or doing data-entry. To make the job even more menial, Linna and her co-workers are under the constant scrutiny of the feminine Voomer unit Manager 0352. Manager 0352 will ‘personally’ reprimand employees who use their workstations for personal projects, and will update personnel records “accordingly”. ‘She’ does not care for sarcasm and has assigned Linna to janitorial duties because of it. Despite being caught and punished several times, Linna still allows her mind to wander, often thinking about the Knight Sabers.
On one of her first days of work, Priss had caused Linna to drop her lunch, prompting the angry girl to attempt to chase the biker down on foot — in heels. She wound up throwing a shoe at her, the heel of which had broken during the pursuit. Later, after a lecherous ‘date’ with a manager, Linna put two and two together and connected Priss to the Knight Sabers. She had then tried to follow the woman on a second-hand scooter, arriving at the Silky Doll clothing boutique. After a grueling test, Linna was approved for membership, only to have her hardsuit malfunction on her first run. After her rocky start, Linna excelled and was considered Priss’ equal.
When Linna went to visit her family, she was introduced to a marriage prospect of her parents choosing. After talking to the young man, she began to feel comfortable about where her priorities had been placed.
After Nene accosted Sylia about Macky, she had tried to talk to her but stayed to help the other two search for the Wiz Lab. After locating it, she, Priss, and Nene realized too late that Sylia had gone after Galatea on her own. They had arrived just as the ‘girl’ had been released from her cocoon, only to have their hardsuits go rogue. She was later stuck on the outside when the ADP tower was overrun, praying that Priss and Nene would make it out alright.
Linna was the first to receive her new hardsuit, completing a very effective outdoor test when Galatea began expanding her power. She, Nene, and Sylia later battled Galatea’s worm, discovering more capabilities of their new suits.
After Galatea began to assimilate the city, the girls went to the tower to attempt to stop her. As a last resort, Linna, Nene, and Priss used the Sky-Hook to gain access to the Umbrella, hoping to beat Galatea there. With Nene unable to shut her down remotely, Nene and Linna resorted to stopping the cannon manually while Priss took on Galatea. The resulting explosion sent the two girls speeding towards earth. Only by altering their suits into a form of an airfoil, they were able to land safely.
Skills
In high school, Linna was a track and field star and an all-around athlete. Her physical fitness and already being in-tune and aware of her body’s limitations was probably highly significant with the bonding to her hardsuit.
Hardsuit
Linna’s first generation hardsuit was the last of the four to be built and was designed to complement her natural grace and athleticism. It is the most streamlined and agile of the four, built for extreme maneuverability. Since the green hardsuit with orange accents is the newest of the lot, it is also equipped with some newer features. However, the suit failed on its first outing, nearly costing Linna her life.
It was designed with more heavily armored gauntlets and a unique primary weapon: a pair of retractable, ribbon-like cutters. The cutters are a nanometer in thickness with a mono-molecular edge that makes them capable of cutting through just about anything. When her hardsuit is not being worn, these cutters are merely ribbons of alloy extended full length from the back of the suit. In the deactivated state, they are relatively safe to handle with bare hands. The weaponry of her second suit changes very little, the only difference being that the ribbons extend from her helmet.
When battling rogue boomers, Linna most often swings out her cutters to avoid getting hit or to clear the way to the core. If cutters are not advisable, or if time is getting short, she will either grab the boomer around the torso or jump on top of it before going after the core.
Notes
Although Linna and her family do not always see eye to eye, she is still very close to them. After spending time with Masaki, she learned that even though her father may be close-minded, he still wants what’s best for her.
