2040 sylia

Born: 2016

Age: 24

Height: 5 feet, 9 inches (176 cm)

Occupation: Lingerie shop owner

Description

Sylia is the daughter of Katsuhito Stingray, the man who first developed the boomer technology, and as such she is very wealthy. This wealth presumably comes from the royalties resulting from her father’s original patents.

Sylia is very attractive and usually expresses a pleasant demeanor. She is also brilliant and calculating. However, there is a dark side — Sylia sometimes exhibits extreme bouts of anger. In addition, she is plagued by flashbacks of her disturbing childhood, usually of her parents and the Wiz Lab.

After starting the Knight Sabers, and Galatea’s subsequent release, have they become severe. Most of these concern her life at the time of her mother’s death and the experiments that were conducted on her.

Personality

Sylia is beautiful, intelligent, charismatic, and slightly eccentric. She is also very emotional, almost unstable, with violent mood swings when in private. Her public persona is very forward, pleasant, cheerful, almost happy go lucky. Some of her behaviors had made the others wonder if she is not bi-sexual, like her habit of touching people’s faces and staring into their eyes when she meets them for the first time. (She also does this when trying to make a point or to persuade people.)

However, beneath that pleasant demeanor, there is an intense distrust, almost hatred, for boomers and the company that manufactures them — Genom. She firmly believes the mega-corp is responsible for the rogue boomers, and as such, if anyone speaks of either one with the most remote of affection, she will fly into a rage. In the past, she has shouted, thrown things, shattered a drinking glass, and even punched her hand into a computer terminal. She is also protective (almost jealously) of her relationship with Nigel.

History

When Sylia was around five or six, her mother died, leaving her in the care of her very busy father. Sylia admired her father, so much so that she agreed to his request to help him with his research. A nano-device designed to copy the mental functions and brain patterns of a human host was implanted within Sylia’s hypothalamus. The implant and the tissue that had grown around it were later harvested and developed into Galatea, the first of the boomers. ‘Coincidentally,’ there was a striking resemblance to Sylia, whether that was because of the implant’s functions or from Stingray’s own reasons is unknown.

Sylia was disgusted by what her father had done to her and with the creature he had brought into being. In an attempt to develop further experiments, Macky was created, but he failed to meet the project’s expectations and was made to be Sylia’s ‘brother’ and companion while her father worked. However, Galatea began to go rogue, killing Stingray before the Artificial Earthquake Device (AED) was implemented.

It is unknown who raised Sylia and Macky, possibly maternal relatives (Sylia was in possession of her mother’s house, suggesting money from that side as well). At some point, Sylia went to the United States, presumably to school, at roughly age eighteen.

After the distribution of boomer technology began, Sylia used her training in Bio-Engineering and BioChemistry, in addition to her finances, to design and construct a trio of hard-suits, with the help of her lover, Nigel (who also used to work in her father’s lab when she was a child). She then recruited a martial artist and a Special Forces Operative to be a part of her team. There was a death and it is assumed the team was disbanded.

Later, after upgrading the equipment and enhancing the safety measures, Sylia recruited Priss after meeting her at a blockade and Nene when she helped her break into Genom’s computer system. Linna came a year later after her own dogged persistence.

Sylia ran support for the girls while they dealt with the boomers, only suiting up when they needed help, or when she went after Galatea personally. When they stormed the tower, she not only had to deal with Galatea stealing Macky’s memory but Galatea’s attempt to assimilate her as well. After the mission, Sylia stayed behind with Macky and the others while the girls went up to the Umbrella. She was at her mother’s house when they saw that the girls had succeeded.

Skills

Sylia is a gifted Engineer and biochemist, having developed the hard-suits while using the boomer technology as the base platform. She is gifted in the art of persuasion.

Hardsuit

Sylia’s hardsuit was built and designed for aggressive combat. A pearl color with pink and teal accents, it is equipped with a retractable, double-edged saber blade built into her right power gauntlet. This blade, apt to the name of “Knight Sabers”, is sharp enough to cut cleanly through just about anything, including ADP K-suits. The suit is also equipped with an active stealth/camouflage device. This causes her to appear to pulsate left and right, confusing human attackers. Her suit also possesses a set of folding glider wings, that when used in conjunction with her jets allows her to glide short distances. It is also in possession of remote detonating explosives.

However, development of the suits was built around data from brain scans taken of Sylia when she was a teenager. Aging has proven to be detrimental to her ability to operate her hardsuit safely. The neural feedback poses a serious risk to her health, which has forced her to take on a role less centered on combat. On the rare occasion when Sylia does engage in combat, she is swift and unforgiving.

Her new hardsuit is equipped with a retractable blade even longer and sharper than the previous model. It appears to be built into both power gauntlets, but only one blade can be extended at any one time. (It is most likely an inconsistency within the animation.)

Notes

Sylia owns her own tower, which houses her private residence, her fashion boutique, and the Knight Sabers headquarters. Sylia’s living space is rather spacious with an immense saltwater aquarium that doubles as her private pool/ocean (Millions of dollars alone — expensive fish, circulation/cleaning system, electricity to power it all.) She keeps a covered dish of pills on her bar, possibly anti-psychotics and anxiety medications.

Her upscale fashion boutique is called the Silky Doll, which is located at the ground level of the tower and also serves as a front for the Knight Sabers. The Silky Doll predominately carries tight, somewhat revealing, outfits, and Sylia has stated that she does not like it when pretty girls dress conservatively. More often than not, the attractive customers that come to the boutique, leave with a shopping bag due to her persistence.

The most important, and secretive, part of the tower is the Knight Sabers headquarters. It houses the Pit, which is the maintenance bay for the hardsuits, and is where they spend the most of their time. This is where they suit up and where Nigel does most of the suit repairs, maintenance, and upgrades. There is also a changing room, a training room, a computer room, and the launcher.

The launcher is a massive quench gun/coil gun that magnetically propels/repels the Sabers up the barrel and into the sky. The computer room enables Sylia to launch them as well as to monitor their progress unless they have a need for the mobile-pit, a truck with a modified trailer capable of transporting the hardsuits and launching the moto-slave.
