Age: 36
Occupation: Owner of K’s Garage
Description
Nigel is the mechanic and master fabricator behind the physical construction of the hardsuits. He lives alone in an old rundown garage doing walk-in repair jobs on motorcycles and scooters. He has long hair that he wears pulled back and tan coveralls. He also has a signature leather jacket that he sometimes wears. He is also a moderate alcoholic.
Personality
Nigel doesn’t talk much, but when he does choose to speak, it is brief and to the point. (Probably why Sylia and Priss both saw an interest in him.) Nigel does seem to have honest feelings for Sylia but has doubted her feelings for him. It’s not really clear why he does all of the work for Sylia, but it’s possibly because he used to work for her father and may feel remorse for his role in what Sylia had to go through as a child.
History
Nigel previously worked under Sylia’s father on the Boomer Project and assisted in the retrieval of the device that had been implanted within Sylia’s hypothalamus. He then helped to generate a body for Galatea and Macky. It’s unclear when he quit Bio-scape and when he began working for Sylia and running his own repair shop, becoming her lover in the process.
He had begun to show guilt for what he had done in the past, particularly after Brain J. Mason began to ‘inquire’ into Sylia’s business, and sometimes drinks heavily. Despite all the guilt and stress, he remained by Sylia’s side in her crusade, building new hardsuits to her specifications and even improving on them.
When the boomers took over the city, he went with them to the park while they figured out what to do next. After Macky gave up his power, he comforted Sylia and looked after her while the other girls went up to the Umbrella. During that time, he and Leon helped Sylia, Henderson, Macky and the refugees to get out of Tokyo.
Skills
Engineering and biomechanics. He helped to design the hard-suits and the moto-slaves.
Notes
It is speculative that Nigel and Priss may have had an unspecific relationship of some sort in the past, as that she appears to have feelings for him, but he doesn’t acknowledge them. He does, however, build a moto-slave just for her. She is also the only one that he shows true concern for when she’s hurt and is irritated when she ignores him.
He also makes Macky his apprentice in the shop and the pit, the boy being one of very few who he actually considers a friend.
