In 2015, Tokyo had been ravaged by a massive earthquake. It seemed to snap the city out of its downward spiral, but only for a brief time. Unfortunately, the city unknowingly comes under the thrall of a massive Mega-Conglomerate bent on taking over the world. This company, called Genom, had implemented strategic purchasing decisions before the quake, coming out on top afterward. However, it has made people suspicious, and company secrets are leaking out. Desperate to preserve it’s supremacy, the company has begun to silence people and cover it up.

To top it off, the mega-corps leading product, Boomers (androids possessing artificial intelligence), are beginning to go rogue. The damage and destruction have prompted the implementation of an elite squad of police officers, known as the Advanced (AD) Police. It is their job to respond to and investigate Boomer and Terrorist crimes. (They’re like a SWAT team specifically for Boomer crimes.)

AD Police is a mesh of Detective Fiction and Cyberpunk, taking place in a futuristic, post-earthquake, Tokyo. Androids possessing varying degrees of sentience and autonomy, called boomers, are commonplace within the city. They are capable of performing a wide range of tasks, from the tedious to the downright dangerous. However, a boomer will go rogue occasionally, either from being programmed to or from damage to its cyber-brain. When that happens, the AD Police are called in to clean up the mess, often making it bigger in the process.
